Last evening June 22, 2017, Aldo Iemma, REALTOR® and fellow CIPS member, was in Managua, Nicaragua, as the NAR-President’s Liaison to Nicaragua. Mr Iemma was the main speaker at an event hosted by CANIBIR. CANIBIR (Cámara Nicaragüense de Bienes Raices) translated as the Chamber of Nicaraguan Real Estate.
Currently CANIBIR has 45 members and hopes to reach 100 members by June 2018.
Mr. Iemma discussed the benefits of establishing a Multi Listing Service (MLS), CANIBIR members being members of NAR International and a forthcoming 5 day course on CIPS. Currently there are only two NAR members operating in Nicaragua as CIPS agents, Mike Cobb of Gran Pacifica and Paul Daemen. NAR is the National Association of REALTORS® with over 1.3 million members worldwide, operating in 60 countries.
Being a CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) will provide the benefits to a REALTOR® a network of fellow agents that can bring international buyers and sellers together through various exclusive CIPS member only websites and social media platforms.
Mr. Iemma also pointed out that just being a member of CANIBIR does not automatically make you a REALTOR®. Only those that are members of NAR can call themselves REALTORS®. There are only approximately 10 agents in Nicaragua that are “REALTORS®.
